Recommended Suppliers for Flutes
Buying a musical instrument is another financial commitment in your child's musical journey.
I only recommend that parents buy instruments once their children are ready to play them, and do not suggest that you purchase an instrument to encourage practice or as an incentive.
We want students to move onto flutes when they are ready to, both physically and musically, so that they find a positive experience. Waiting until a student is ready is really important. (You can read more about why young students should start with recorder, not flute, here.)
JUST FLUTES:
Just Music - an institution in the flute world. Excellent selection of instruments, and huge library of music for flautists. If you're looking to purchase an instrument they also offer appointments to try their new and pre-owned instruments in store before purchase, although this is mostly beneficial to a more advanced player. Just Flutes also offer flute servicing. A great one stop shop for all flute essentials.
CHAMBERLAIN MUSIC:
Chamberlain Music is located near Haslemere, and offers a large range of musical instruments, including a wide range of student flutes. Again, you can make an appointment with Chamberlain Music to try a selection of instruments.
DAWKES MUSIC:
Dawkes Music, in Maidenhead, has a smaller range of new and pre-owned flutes.
